Coral Sul FLNG, Africa’s first floating natural gas liquefaction unit, achieved a major milestone on 23rd August by producing 5 million tons of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique. This achievement marks a significant technical and operational success for the Coral Sul FLNG project, underscoring its role as a key player in Mozambique’s energy sector. Operated by Eni on behalf of partners ExxonMobil, CNPC, GALP, KOGAS, and ENH, the Rovuma Area 4 project began LNG production in October 2022, positioning Mozambique as a major contributor to global LNG supply.
In addition to its operational success, Coral FLNG was a joint top sponsor of the 10th Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (MMEC), an industry-leading event that highlights Coral FLNG’s ongoing commitment to partnership and support in Mozambique’s energy and mining sectors. The conference returns for its 11th edition from 7th to 8th May 2025 in Maputo, Mozambique, continuing to provide a crucial platform for stakeholders in the region’s dynamic energy landscape.
